Huntington Beach, CA, Oct. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Liberty Military Housing (Liberty) is proud to announce that it has received Honorable Recognition in the 2026 Ragan CSR Awards in the Crisis Response category, recognizing its emergency initiatives to support military families during the 2025 Federal Government Shutdown. The Ragan CSR Awards recognize organizations and teams who use corporate responsibility and community-focused programs to make a difference.
On October 1, 2025, the United States federal government entered into a full shutdown that impacted millions of Americans, including nearly 2.5 million active-duty service members and their families. As a leading military housing provider, Liberty responded immediately with practical, direct aid, including financial relief through a temporary pause on resident rent payments, operational continuity for the services its residents depend on, and community engagement opportunities that allowed Liberty team members to give back to servicemembers, military spouses, and military children. Some of the community support Liberty provided included:
- Coordinating food pantry events and meal drives offered to over 15,000 families
- Collecting $40,000+ in gift cards, enabling more than 5,000 families to purchase items at base commissaries, local restaurants, local grocery stores, and beyond.
- Coordinating partnerships with 40+ nonprofit organizations to assist military families with financial services, food insecurity, counseling, and beyond.
- Donating, wrapping, and distributing 2,500 gifts to children of military service members through various community partnerships.
- Providing Thanksgiving turkeys to 800+ families.
- Sponsoring holiday celebration dinners for 1,000 service members.
- Providing Christmas trees to 300+ families.
- Donating winter coats for family members through Support the Enlisted Project.
“ At Liberty, our mission goes beyond providing housing. We are committed to fostering strong, supportive communities that help the servicemember, military spouse, and children, navigate both the rewards and challenges of military life.” says Gail Miller, COO, Liberty Military Housing. “I am proud of our team members for the extraordinary care, compassion, and dedication they demonstrated in supporting military families during this difficult and uncertain time. Their actions exemplify our commitment to serving those who serve our country.”
