Infinimmune is pioneering a new approach to antibody discovery by systematically identifying and engineering antibodies generated by the human immune system. Its proprietary Anthrobody® platform screens millions of single memory B cells to discover fully human antibodies against hundreds of targets in parallel. Infinimmune uses these data to train its GLIMPSE™ antibody language models, which support rapid selection and engineering of antibodies with optimal affinity, specificity, extended half-life, favorable developability characteristics, and engineered properties such as pH-conditional binding.
The recognition follows several significant milestones for Infinimmune, including its $75 million Series A financing in August 2026, co-led by Regeneron Ventures and Playground Global and joined by RA Capital, Goldcrest Capital, Forge Life Science Partners, and Merck GHI, and a multi-target antibody discovery collaboration with Merck announced in March 2026, which includes up to approximately $838 million in potential milestone payments. The company is advancing two wholly owned, half-life-extended monoclonal antibodies for atopic dermatitis, IFX-101 targeting IL-22 and IFX-201 targeting IL-13, with both programs expected to enter the clinic in 2027.
“We founded Infinimmune to begin screening the most successful antibody discovery system ever built—the human immune system. Since 2022, our team and partners have shown that every human’s immune system contains an extraordinary library of therapeutic antibodies not accessible to conventional discovery approaches,” said Wyatt McDonnell, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Infinimmune. “Being named to the Fierce 15 is an exciting recognition of our team’s work to translate that biology into a new generation of antibody medicines. With our recent financing, partnership with Merck and advancing pipeline, we’re entering an important chapter as we work to bring our first programs into the clinic.”
The Fierce 15 celebrates the spirit of being “fierce” – championing innovation and creativity, even in the face of intense competition. This is Fierce Biotech’s 24th annual Fierce 15 selection.
“For 24 years, the Fierce 15 has highlighted private biotechs doing some of the most interesting and ambitious work in the industry,” said Ayla Ellison, Editor-in-Chief, Fierce Life Sciences and Healthcare. “This year’s class arrives at a moment when momentum is returning to biotech, with more capital flowing and new opportunities opening up for promising companies. These 15 biotechs stand out for the strength of their science and the potential of their approaches to shape the next generation of medicines.”
